Kayla's new do

Makayla has been begging to get her hair cut for months. I finally said yes and cut we did. They took over 5 inches off! What a scary first cut, for me. Makayla was smiling all the time and is in love with her new hair cut! I have to say her shower time has decrease tremendously! I still miss the long hair but she has not stated once that she misses it. Thank goodness, I can deal with my feelings, I think it would be very hard if she did not like it.
The after haircut look, in the salon and then the next morning! Pete and I think it makes her look much older!

Derbys

So a very good friend of mine came into town for a few days. Her family joined her and I think a good time was had by all! They took in a concert while in town and the kids had a great time playing. We had lots of down time and fun times! Movie night, museum time, little ones bonding time, and plenty of dress up!

Love these dress up photos before the performance! I am sure Maggie will not be happy with me some day for this strike a pose photo! I think "Miss Laurie" will be thrilled to having made the blog in her dancing debut :~)

Our time went too fast and was so fun! We always have plenty to talk about and never enough time to get it all in. We do not get to see each other but a few times a year, however our time is priceless when we are able to be together.  So Derby family thank you so much for making the long drive and spending a few days with us. We hope you all had as much fun as each of us did.

pajama day

We had pajama day at work for Halloween and a good number of us wore our pajamas to work. I have to say it felt like a very casual, comfy day. The phone nurses were a gnome, bunny, and gardener(they were quite cute as well!)

Halloween 2012

I was able to take Halloween afternoon off and enjoy the girls' parties this year. Maggie's class gathered for a group photo. In the third grade pictures are not so cool, I ended up with an action shot and that was it for Makayla's.

Rosemary is a co-worker of mine who is without her grandkids on Halloween so she joined us for dinner and trick or treating. The kids paused long enough for a group photo and then they were off! Brie did not take long to get the hang of it. She kept asking "go another house with a light?" when we responded yes she would yell "yea" and then run to catch the others.

Once again the JoJo circus clown got a lot of compliments! I have to say it has certainly be worth the 9.99 I paid for it nearly 6 years ago!
Makayla was a winter snow princess. She had a pink overcoat that really was very pretty. It was a perfect Makayla costume.
Magdalene was Cinderella by day and an angel by night. Her favorite part was the beautiful wings! Maggie can really pull off any outfit.
PJ was thrilled to be Thor from the Avengers, I think. He too had a great time trick or treating this year. I think he liked ringing the doorbells the most.

Each of the kids got plenty of candy prizes to make Halloween 2012 a success in their eyes!

Ghostly Grub

ingredients:
Skeleton Bones
Bat Droppings
Pumpkin Poop
Spider Eggs

My very creative sister sent out a Halloween treat to my kiddos and this is what it was. Super cute and oh so very yummy!! We all have enjoyed it. Thank you Auntie Coke!!

pumpkin carving

Brie is obviously pleased as ever with her pumpkins though she had NOTHING to do with carving or cleaning them! That was definitely NOT her thing. She just kept saying "gross! I not like it!"

PJ wanted a scary dragon but settled for a "silly" looking one instead.

Maggie wanted a castle, I have to mention this one has a working draw bridge. Of course right, because she has the best est daddy ever! Makayla wanted a butterfly, which according to the internet and precise daddy carving it should glow beautifully! Oh Halloween cannot come fast enough for the kids!

busy Sunday

Sunday started with church. Makayla joined the kids choir this year and this was her first time singing. I think she enjoyed herself and did a good job as well. Then it was back to the house for more laundry, bed making, and packing up grandma. My mom came in on Thursday and stayed thru all the business of the previous 4 days! It got quite crazy at times but it was so wonderful to have her with us, something about having your mom around. It just kept everyone calm and collected. We so enjoyed her visit and wish we could just keep her forever. I supposed we have to let her return home so she can recover and hopefully come back again for more fun!! Thanks mom you are the best!!
